CleanCut
Privacy policy

This notice explains how CleanCut, provided by Newton & Carter LLC, handles information. It covers the iOS app; this website has a separate privacy notice.

Photos are processed on your device

CleanCut uses Apple's on-device image processing to separate a subject from its background. The current app does not upload your selected photos or cutouts to our servers. No CleanCut account is required.

The current app does not send usage analytics to us or use advertising trackers.

You choose what to access and export

The system photo picker shares the photo you select. If that photo is stored in iCloud Photos, Apple may need to download it to your device. Camera permission is used only if you choose to take a photo. Saving a result requests permission to add an image to Photos.

Using Share sends your exported PNG to the app or recipient you choose. Saving an image in Photos may also make it available through your own iCloud Photos settings. Those copies are managed by Apple or the recipient, not by CleanCut.

Local data and deletion

The current editing image is held for the editing session. Resetting the editor clears that image from the editor. Removing CleanCut removes its local app data; it does not delete originals or exported images in Photos, Files, or other apps. Delete those copies in their respective apps if you no longer want them.

Purchases through Apple

Apple processes payment and maintains the purchase record associated with your Apple Account. The app checks that record to unlock eligible features. We do not receive your full payment-card details. The current app uses Apple's purchase system directly; it does not send purchase history to a separate analytics or advertising service.

Device backups and shared copies

App data may be included in device backups you enable. A local deletion does not erase an older backup or a copy you exported. Manage those separately in your backup settings or destination app. See Apple's explanation of iCloud Backup.

When you contact support

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it to answer your request, troubleshoot the app, and maintain necessary support records. Our email provider processes these messages. Please send only the details needed to explain the issue, without private recordings, family documents, travel records, or other sensitive content.

We keep support correspondence while needed to handle the request and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations, then delete it when it is no longer needed. You may email us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent. We cannot access or recover the local app records on your device.
